The prayer we are sharing on this site is rich in meaning.
What follows are some comments and insights that can help us attain a higher level of awareness and sense of purpose in saying the prayer.
Dear God, Master of the World, Creator, Sustainer, and Supervisor of all life.
Creator – The First Cause, Who made something from nothing.
Sustainer – God didn’t “create then disappear.” He is actively involved.
Supervisor – There are no accidents. Everything is tailor-made for our benefit.
Dear God, Master of the World, Creator, Sustainer, and Supervisor of all life.

Sustainer – God didn’t “create then disappear.” He is actively involved.
Supervisor – There are no accidents. Everything is tailor-made for our benefit.
At this time of crisis and uncertainty.
Life includes challenges to get our attention and help us grow. When we “pass a test” we’re a different person – more sensitive, more appreciative, and better equipped to enjoy life’s blessings.
Please extend Your compassion and abundant kindness.
Life is a gift. God is perfect and has no needs; Creation was an act of pure kindness.
Grant us good health and wellbeing – physically, emotionally, and spiritually…
Good health and wellbeing – Don’t take anything for granted. Cognition. Locomotion. It’s all a gift. Every time we eat, the nutrients know where to go (as does the extra).
Physically – Life is not about “good looks.” It’s about having the health and energy to fulfill our purpose each day.
Emotionally – Humans are not robots. We emotionally appreciate what we see, hear, and feel.
Spiritually – Life is more than what meets the eye. Covid-19 is microscopic, raising our awareness of invisible droplets in the air. We are sensitive to our surroundings, both to those in our proximity and to the smallest surface we touch. We wear masks to protect what comes in and what goes out. This reflects a deep and beautiful, spiritual reality… that we cannot see.
To endure these trying times and emerge stronger and wiser.
To endure these trying times – Isolation is our opportunity to reflect, prioritize, and encourage others.
Emerge stronger and wiser – With the right attitude, every test and challenge brings us to greatness.
Grant us clarity and strength to recognize Your Omnipotence and see light amidst darkness.
Clarity and strength – Clarity to understand correctly and strength to live by what we know is right. What could be more important?
Recognize Your Omnipotence – Who is in charge? Whether the past month or the past decade, can we really say it all that happened exactly as we designed and planned? “Man plans, God laughs.”
See light amidst darkness – There is much to be happy about, with blessings in the world and in our lives. Is our cup half-full or half-empty? Do we realize that a little light can push away a lot of darkness?
Grant us understanding and energy to improve ourselves – to fulfill Your will, and fulfill our life mission.
Grant us understanding and energy – What is the source of our brains, intelligence, intuition, and understanding – what’s the source? We humbly recognize that the Source of all life is the Source of all blessing.
To improve ourselves – When we strive to be the best we can possibly be, we enjoy inner peace. This sets a wonderful example for others.
To fulfill Your will – The builder builds from an architect’s blueprint, that was preceded by a conceptual plan that defines its purpose. We human beings, with the world at our disposal, need to tap into that Divine plan.
To fulfill our life mission – What are you living for? What contribution will make a meaningful difference? Or stated differently: What are you willing to die for? Once you know what you’re willing to die for, you can truly live.
Grant us the wisdom to build a world of peace, safety, and security.
Grant us the wisdom – We are powerless without God’s help. Genuine wisdom comes not only from life experience, but also from is transmitted from Above.
To build a world of peace, safety, and security – We work a lifetime to build empires of social and financial security. But what’s it worth if the world is falling apart with discord, disrespect, and harm. There is a better way.
We approach You with a humbled spirit and the pledge to lead better lives.
We approach You with a humbled spirit – the first step is to work on the trait of humility. We need to be clear precisely who is – and who is not – in control.
Pledge to lead better lives – More than a New Year’s resolution, a “pledge” is a commitment to actually change and lead a better life. Make a list of 10 things and work on one each week, focusing on it every day after reciting the prayer.
In dealings with family, community, and in the workplace…
With family – where there is tension, or even estrangement, in your family, what can you do to improve the situation?
Community – With our neighbors, community centers or organizations, do we put the community first, or our own agenda?
Workplace – It is easy to slip in business and looking to make a profit. We need to be extra-careful and internalize the truth that everything comes from Above.
We commit to act towards each other with kindness, honesty and integrity.
We commit to act towards each other with kindness – give a smile then a good word with a compliment
We commit to act towards each other with honesty – it’s more that not taking what doesn’t belong to you, it starts with a resolve to be truthful in thought, speech, and action.
We commit to act towards each other with integrity – even if it costs, even if it hurts, even if you’re in doubt, err to the side of caution.
We commit to guard our tongues from speaking gossip and negativity.
Guard our tongues – Life and death are in the tongue – to harm or to heal. The tongue has two gates to pass through – the teeth and lips – in order to get a word out. Guard that double gate!
Gossip and negativity – Life is too short. Gossip and negativity are a destructive waste of energy.
We regret our mistakes and commit to living with good values and morals.
We regret our mistakes – We strive – not for guilt – but for remorse for the past misdeeds and mistakes.
Commit to living with good values and morals – Changing the world starts by changing ourselves. Identify good values and start living with what you know is right, even if it’s hard. Greatness is not easy!
We will encourage others to go in the direction of righteousness and kindness.
We will encourage others – Don’t preach. But it’s okay to share what you believe is right and true.
Direction of righteousness – the first step to being righteous is to point yourself on a path that promotes goodness and wellbeing.
Acts of kindness – Lead by example with kindness each day. Think of others’ needs and share life’s pleasures with them.
We acknowledge that You are the source of all life and control everything in the world.
We acknowledge – with our entire being – heart, soul, and mind. Get it in your bones!
You are the source of all life – Everything is in God’s hands. He is Creator, Sustainer, and Supervisor.
You control everything in the world – We’re in the world to make it a better place with our right choices and actions. But ultimately God is in control
We are grateful for the myriad kindnesses that You bestow on us every moment.
We are grateful – Gratitude is more that a simple “thank you.” It is an internal recognition that I had a lack which is now more complete.
Myriad kindnesses – Make a list of all your gifts, starting with the five senses. Every time that food goes in your mouth, the miracles continue!
That you bestow on us every moment – Acknowledge your involuntary breathing, every moment, 24/7, for a lifetime! Ponder with awe the natural order – four seasons, , air, water, etc.
We beseech Your blessings for good health, peace, harmony, and prosperity.
We beseech – Come with a humbled spirit as one in need – beseeching the One Who can give.
Your blessings – You are the source of all blessings
Good health, peace, harmony, and prosperity – Grant these blessings so I can actively accomplish and make a difference.
So that we can fill the world with genuine meaning and purpose, according to Your Divine will.
Fill the world with genuine meaning and purpose – Beware! We don’t live in a vacuum and insanity is contagious. Thankfully, sanity is also contagious. If you have insight into the meaning and purpose of life, spread it! If you don’t yet have a grasp, make it a top priority. What could be more important?
According to Your Divine will – Have definitions and goals in line with the One who provides all health, peace, harmony, and prosperity.
Amen.
This is true and I believe in it.
Thank you, God, thank you.

BBE YOUR PRAYER, LIVE YOUR PRAYER
Commit to making the world a better place.
Think a nice thought. When we focus on what is good, our mood improves, and as a result, we have more emotional resources to help others.
Say a nice word to another. If you feel tempted to criticize, make an effort instead to offer words of appreciation and encouragement.
Look at every small interaction as an opportunity to help others, even if it’s with something as simple as offering a smile to someone who seems lonely, or verbally recognizing a job well done.
GOOD THOUGHT.
GOOD WORD.
GOOD DEED.
…wherever you are…
…focus on the GOOD you can do today…
…and invite your loved ones to join us….
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER’S HISTORY
The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May, designated by the United States Congress, when people are asked “to turn to God in prayer and meditation”. The president is required by law (36 U.S.C. § 119) to sign a proclamation each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day.
In his role as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, General George Washington acknowledged a day of “fasting, humiliation and prayer” proclaimed by the Continental Congress to be held on Thursday, May 6, 1779. To enable his soldiers to observe the day, Washington ordered a one-day cessation of recreation and “unnecessary labor”.
In March 1780, Congress announced a day of “fasting, humiliation and prayer” to be held on Wednesday, April 26, 1780.
Thomas Jefferson established a day of prayer and thanksgiving while he served as governor of Virginia.
The fall observance was established by President Abraham Lincoln as the official Thanksgiving holiday in 1863.
On April 17, 1952, President Harry S. Truman signed a bill proclaiming a National Day of Prayer must be declared by each subsequent president at an appropriate date of his choice.
In his 1983 declaration, Ronald Reagan said, “From General Washington’s struggle at Valley Forge to the present, this Nation has fervently sought and received divine guidance as it pursued the course of history. This occasion provides our Nation with an opportunity to further recognize the source of our blessings, and to seek His help for the challenges we face today and in the future.”
George W. Bush made his first presidential act be the announcement of a National Day of Prayer, and he held events at the White House in each year of his presidency.
